One visit with Danny Felton of the Experts Resource Community Center will let you know why the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County (HFA) is so proud of our partnership with him. Mr. Felton grew up in the heart of Miami and at an early age determined that his greatest duty would be to serve the community. His humble beginnings taught him the importance of persistence and giving back. After starting The Mortgage Experts, a one-stop-shop for homeowner-related services, Danny recognized a greater need in his community.

In 2004, he began the Experts Resource Community Center (ERCC), a non-profit organization focused on educating the community about the essential topics that homeowners and potential homeowners need to know. The ERCC offers free budget and credit counseling, loss mitigation assistance, pre and post purchase counseling and financial literacy courses. Through the ERCC–HFA partnership, participants in our Southern Anchor program are guided through the process of becoming homeowners.

To promote the viability of our communities, Mr. Felton and the Experts Resource Community Center encourage homeowners to learn more about their mortgages and options.  ERCC  programs teach life skills, banking system basics and methods of handling hardships related to creditors and banks. Danny is inspired by witnessing people accomplish and preserve the American dream. His motivation comes from watching people achieve their goals. An Army veteran, Barry University graduate and former law enforcement officer, Danny has developed the skills needed for working with others. He excels in building relationships and uses the ERCC to give back to youth organizations, schools, churches and other community groups.

The ERCC is a local branch affiliate of the National Investment Division (NID) Housing Counseling Agency, one of six national intermediaries certified by HUD. This affiliation enables ERCC to offer HUD-approved homebuyer education courses and the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling program. The ERCC has assisted 3000 people since 2010 alone. Their grassroots effort to improve financial and homeowner education has been extremely successful.
